English and the X Child
So far this week has been relatively busy. I have a test in Math tomorrow a math review session today, Res. College activities this week and next week, but in the middle of all this I found myself thinking of the story about the X Child. The world would be a better place if children were not groomed to be the gender they were born. So what if guys play with dolls and girls play baseball. This attitude where we have to act our gender creates a stereotype that we find persistent to this day. And to top it off I got thinking about Dillard (a writer in my English book), she talked about the Galapagos Islands and how Darwin was right about how unusual the islands were, and how we can see evolution at work. It makes me feel small, just one person in the gene pool known as evolution.
